Nihon University is one of the Japanese universities selected as one of the Centers of Excellence Program by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science(JSPS) and the 3rd largest amount of Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research expectancy among Japanese private universities by the Japanese government and JSPS. The Population Research Institute(NUPRI) has conducted joint research with international organizations including the UN, ILO and WHO. As one of the first officially approved Technology Licensing Organizations in Japan, the Nihon University Business Incubation Center(NUBIC) has promoted the transfer of technologies and academic ideas in a wide range of industry. Nihon University accounts the 3rd largest number of licensing of its patents in year 2009 among Japanese universities. Regarding the number of company presidents(CEO) who graduated from Japanese universities, graduates of Nihon University accounts the largest proportion. With more than 120 years of history, number of graduates reached more than 1,000,000 and Nihon University has been renown for its strong performance in the field of sports.
