Palacký University, founded in 1573, is the second oldest University in the Czech Republic. Thanks to its tradition and today´s performance it occupies significant place in Czech and Central European education, culture and research, contributing to knowledge and exchange of views across different fields and regions. Nowadays, the University comprises eight faculties: St. Cyril &Methodius Faculty of Theology, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Physical Culture, Faculty of Law; specialized research centres and institutes.

With almost 22,000 undergraduate and graduate students the University provides quality education and excellent background for research in the wide range of academic disciplines and interdisciplines, from humanities to medicine and natural sciences. It offers more than 250 accredited Bachelor´s, Master´s and Doctoral full-time and part-time study programmes, including courses and study programmes in foreign languages as well as joint degrees in cooperation with other international universities. The student population includes more than 1700 international students from all over the world. The University highly supports the internationalization and is significantly involved in mobility activities. In this regard, it participates in many european and international programmes and projects of cooperation. Moreover, it is successful in providing various lifelong learning programmes attended and appreciated by general public. The University alumni are competitive in the labor market at a regional, national as well as international level.

Palacký University as a modern research universtity focuses on further development and increase of research activities. In recent years, several significant University international research centres have been established thanks to the important investment projects, which allow to do research in the edge of science. The research work covers different fields from medicine, natural sciences to humanities due to long and rich tradition of Palacký University.  In addition, the University research teams have been successfuly involved in numerous research projects funded by various national, European and international resources.
